Will this camera work with any cell phone provider?

No, the data plan for this camera is sold by SPYPOINT. We work with several carriers to ensure the best signal for your SPYPOINT products. This product is available in a nationwide and Verizon variants.

Can this camera send photos to multiple phone numbers?

No, this camera sends photos to our app. You can download and login to the app from as many devices as you wish.

Is there a monthly fee?

There is a free plan that gives you 100 photos per month. If you would like to receive more photos than that we have multiple plans available. You can see the list of available plans here

How many megapixels is this camera?

  • Link-WM 8mp

How do I change the settings? I don’t see any buttons or a screen.

Once you connect the device to your account through the phone app, you will be able to make changes as needed.

Why are my night time photos over/under exposed?

The ideal environment for night pictures would contain enough obstacle to reflect the light emitted from the flash (IR LEDs) When the environment has too low obstacle like a field, the light source is lost making the picture very dark.

If the subject is too close it can be washed out also for getting too much of the flash, ideally the subject should be around 25/30 feet to get a good exposure

What is the lifespan of the batteries?

The battery life will vary from user to user. Different settings, such as the transfer frequency, will have a major impact on battery life.

My camera is taking photos, but I don’t see anything in front of it?

Most of the time, empty pictures can be caused by small animals moving quickly, such as birds or squirrels, tall grass and tree branches can also trigger the camera.

Anything that moves in front of the camera can potentially trigger it, the camera is triggered by heat changes so the sun heating the tall grass or branch can make this happen.

What is the recommended SD Cards for this camera?

Class 10 SD cards between 2gb and 32gb

Do I need to update the firmware on the camera?

We frequently make improvements to the firmware that will help with reliability and functionality. It is important to update your firmware frequently. However, the camera is shipped 100% functional, so while not required, its is recommended.

Will my camera continue to take photos if the SD card is full?

Yes, the camera will continue to take photos and overwrite the oldest photos on the card.

Will I lose the images if my batteries die?

No your images are preserved on the SD card.

Is this camera waterproof?

If installed correctly, the device is water resistant. There is a rubber seal on the inside of the door that will prevent water from entering the device.

Is the infrared flash invisible?

You may see a faint red glow if you look directly at the camera at night.

How do I view the photos from this camera?

For best results, you should activate your camera in the smartphone application. Once activated and properly set up, you will be able to see your photos on the app. Alternatively, you can remove the SD card from the camera and place it into a computer or other compatible device.

Can I use rechargeable AA batteries in my camera?

It is not recommended to use rechargeable AA batteries in SPYPOINT cameras. Rechargeable AA batteries typically output a lower voltage than standard batteries. This can cause issues with your camera’s performance. We do offer rechargeable battery packs made specifically for the LINK-MICRO. You can find them here

Can I use the LINK-MICRO through a piece of glass, such as a window or door?

Glass may block the motion detection and may cause glares across the lens. It is not recommended in this configuration.

How should I set up my camera?

  1. Facing North ideally
  2. Height should be pointing at the torso of the animal/subject
  3. Best distance is around 25 feet
  4. Make sure nothing moves in front of the camera like tall grass or branches.

What is the plug for on the outside of my camera?

The plug is for an external power source. We offer a 12V battery accessory (Link Here)

How do I remove the battery tray?

Grab the edges of the battery tray and pull it straight outwards from the camera.

Why an external antenna?

In our testing we found that we had the optimal signal level for better reception / transmission with the external antenna.
